THE BURNING OF LLANGERNYW YEW
The Lightsenders third full length studio album available everywhere 02FEB2024
This is the Last in the Derek trilogy of albums starting with 'Derek is an Astronaut' in 2022 and marks a departure from our previous long-format instrumental post rock. The Burning of Llangernyw Yew is comprised of 8 tracks leaning into riff-based post rock with heavier influences and verging on lo-fi as the album progresses and degrades. We've been working on this album since last February and it is by far our most concise, poignant, and cohesive album yet. The entire runtime is just shy of 40 minutes and is meant to be listened to as one complete movement.
The music tells a story of a world left burning with the unrest and turmoil of the ones left behind. There is also beauty to be found in the life / death cycles and of rebirth.
