The Singularity of Phoenix A is the 2nd track off of The Lightsenders debut album 'Derek Is An Astronaut'. This post-rock instrumental album tells the story of a futuristic dystopian society of humans that are forced to search for a permanent habitat away from Earth or face extinction. This album takes you on a journey that modulates between despair and triumph as we navigate the cosmos, sending light signals transcoded with data, trying desperately to find someone to save us from an ecosystem that is actively fighting for its own survival.
In The Singularity of Phoenix A, Earth scientists have discovered the first breakthrough in advancing technology that will allow us to transcode complex data onto a light beam and send it out into distant galaxies in hopes of contact with intelligent life. Despite the underlying tone of despair, this is the first ray of hope humans have to rejoice in a very long time, showing strength through resolve and a celebration of life itself.
